Open Studio Policy  

ELIGIBILITY

Open Studio is available to clients who have, at our discretion, achieved the skills required to complete their desired project.   No instruction is offered during Open Studio.   

Membership Options

  1.   The basic Pay-As-You-Go rate is $25 per hour with a 2-hour minimum. 

  2.   A single monthly rate of $150 billed at the beginning of the 30 day period.

  3. An on-going membership for $110 a month, billed the beginning of each new billing cycle..   

Membership fees are non-refundable. The on-going membership willrenew unless 30 days’ written notice is received.  

Studio time includes – use of hand tools, safety glasses, molds, and access to grinders in the cold room machines (if completed prerequisites).   Use of the studio’s Dremel tool is available only to Open Studio members.  Glass Arts Collective (GAC), staff, and guest instructions, (hereinafter referred to as “Released Parties”) are not responsible for any damage caused anyone using its tools or equipment.   

ADDITIONAL FEES ·        
* Cut studio “class” colored glass – $20 per pound with a $5 minimum ·- fused glass or stained glass
* Frit (crushed glass) – $2 per ounce
* Rods – $3 per rod (only sold as full rod) ·
* Stringers – $.50 1mm
* Ribbons – $ per full stringer or ribbons (only sold as full)
* Precut shapes, cut sheets and clear Tekta are available for sale 

* Accessories available, prices as marked
* Full or half Kiln space purchase. ·
* Cold room cutting tools grinders are included. Training review on all equipment is required before using any of the tools. Long pants and closed toe shoes are required in the cold room for safety purposes. Long hair must be pulled back. Safety glasses must be worn.  All equipiment requires water to operate correctly.

OPEN STUDIO RULES ·

* Safety will always be a priority.  No using tools or machinery you’re not trained on. ·
* Any special firing requirements will need to be discused ahead of time. Firing schedules for special projects will need to be provided by the client.
* Safety glasses, long pants, and closed toe shoes are to be worn when cutting glass and working in the cold room. ·
* Hair should be pulled back and not be loose near the equipment.  ·
* Puffy sleeves should be pushed up and out of the way of equipment. ·
* It is recommended to remove jewelry to keep them free of equipment and possible damage. ·
* Bring or purchase glass from GAC.  GAC only sells Bullseye Glass for projects for fused glass projects. GAC does not guarantee glass compatibility with glass brought from outside the studio. Bringing glass bought off the internet or other brands can result in cracks and other issues. ·
* Basic hand tools, glue, safety glasses and glass cleaner will be provided. Misuse of tools will require the client to pay for repair or replacement.
* Class projects have priority for Kiln Firing space.
* Open Studio will be accommodated as quickly as possible. ·
* Open studio clients are required to do their own cold working.
* Keep work are clean.  Clean up after working and wipe down any machinery areas. ·
* Keep voice volume at a low level when others are working in the studio.  The use of cell phone calls should only be taken outside. ·
* GAC is not responsible for projects that fail due to circumstances outside of GAC’s control, including but not limited to: user negligence or error, power outages, or other issues with the kiln. ·
* Open studio clients will be held responsible for breaking any tools, machinery, glass, or molds from improper use. ·
* GAC is not responsible for glass or supplies left at the studio for storage. ·
* Due to the limited space, only membership-based clients will be provided longer term storage. ·
* Temporary storage to be able to return to finish will be accommodated on a space availability basis. ·
* Projects that require special firing schedules must be discussed prior to starting any project to ensure the schedule can be accommodated.  Firing schedule must be provided by the client.  

OPEN STUDIO HOURS ·        
Hours may vary depending on special events.  Open studio schedules will be created at a minimum of a month in advance and sign up will be available on the website.   See website for specific dates and hours.
GIFT SHOP ·
* Only on-going studio membership clients will be able to offer finished projects in the gift shop on consignment (after first 90 days.)  The membership client will need to determine the sale price. ·
* Purchases will be processed through Glass Arts Collective who will charge the Sales Tax and take 20% of the sale price for the studio’s administrative fee. ·* Due to limited space, there will be a limit to how many pieces will be available for sale at one time.
* Glass Arts Collective reserves the right to terminate any membership if policies are not adhered to or equipment and studio are misused in any way.
