Honeycomb Radiance Bowl

A warm, golden glow drifts across this extraordinary bowl, its millefiori surface unfolding like a sunlit field of wild honeycomb. Thousands of tiny murrine circles gather in a rhythmic constellation—burnt orange, amber yellow, rust-crimson, soft white, and gentle olive—each one catching the light in its own quiet way. From across the room, the piece shimmers like late-summer sunlight on a landscape; up close, it reveals a world of depth, movement, and organic geometry. It feels alive, patient, and impossibly intricate.

This work is a testament to Abby’s mastery of the vitrigraph process and the kind of dedication that only true artists bring to their craft. Every bit of murrine began with raw sheets of glass—selected for color, cut, and carefully arranged into stainless-steel pots. The pots were loaded into a specialized kiln and brought to roughly 1560°F, where the molten glass could be safely pulled from a small opening at the bottom. Wearing full protective gear, Abby drew each glowing stream of glass by hand, cutting it into canes as it cooled.

Once cooled, every cane was sliced into hundreds upon hundreds of individual murrine pieces. Those pieces were then sorted, arranged into a mosaic across the kiln shelf, fused into a unified sheet, and finally slumped into a gently curved bowl form. From the first color choice to the final polish, Honeycomb Radiance required months of focused work, steady hands, and remarkable vision.

Whether displayed on a stand or placed at the center of a room, this piece radiates warmth and quiet strength—an unmistakable celebration of patience, craftsmanship, and the luminous possibilities of fused glass.
