Golden Poppy Garden Stakes (Commission Sample)

The Golden Poppy Garden Stakes are a glowing tribute to California’s state flower, crafted in fused glass by Artist-in-Residence Patty Heinen at Glass Arts Collective in Westlake Village, California. Instead of starting with flat, pre-colored glass, Patty began by handcrafting the poppy colors themselves—layering and fusing glass powders to create the perfect range of golden amber, sunny orange, and soft highlights before any petals were cut.

Once the color palette was born, each blossom was built piece by piece: sculpted petals, gently curved stems, and leaves that feel like they’re reaching toward the sun. A lively bed of frit in spring green, lavender, and warm amber adds depth and texture, suggesting a garden waking up in the morning light. Multiple firings in the kiln bring everything together into a durable, dimensional surface that glows beautifully outdoors.

This particular pair of garden stakes was created as a private commission and is no longer available, but it offers a clear look at the style, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that go into every custom project at Glass Arts Collective.
